NIGEL GREAVES joined the firm as an Associate in 2013 and was promoted to the position of Senior Associate in 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Hons.) (2001) from the University of Buckingham, a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional and Legal Skills (Bar Vocational Course) (2003) from the University of Nottingham Trent and a Master of Laws Degree in Petroleum, Taxation and Finance (2008) from the University of Dundee. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003 and is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. He has worked in England and Scotland for over 8 years as an employed barrister and a consultant.
Nigel carries on a general practice with a focus on commercial, civil litigation, statutory and regulatory compliance, corporate governance and dispute resolution. He has prepared and co-drafted a diverse range of commercial agreements includingshareholders agreements, licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, energy industry and construction agreements and has advised several international, regional and local entities on wide-ranging issues including negligence claims, employment law, statutory interpretation and pension provisions.
He has been and is presently a lead instructing attorney in a number of large scale and complex civil litigation matters involving intellectual property rights, breaches of commercial guarantees, breaches of commercial tenancy agreements, injunctive proceedings, industrial relations claims and judicial review proceedings.
He has been a key draftsmen in reports prepared for the Co-operative Credit Union Movement, World-Bank and the Caribbean Court of Justice and in the revision of rules and regulations for statutory and professional bodies including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT) and the Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago(DCTT).
